What Causes Myopia?

Myopia, commonly known as nearsightedness, is a refractive error that causes distant objects to appear blurry while close-up objects remain clear.

The exact cause of myopia is not fully understood, but several factors contribute to its development. Genetics is a significant factor, as myopia tends to run in families. Environmental factors also play a role, particularly excessive near-work and prolonged screen time. Spending time engaged in activities like reading, using digital devices, or focusing on close-up tasks can contribute to the progression of myopia.
