I had been thinking about doing LASIK for awhile but was unsure if I was a candidate. After speaking with Dr. Ferguson, I was very pleased to find out that I was a candidate even though I had fairly bad vision. He and his staff explained the procedure and how it could free me from glasses and contacts. The procedure was simple and quick. I woke up the next morning and couldn’t believe that I could see the ceiling fan in my bedroom. Over the next few days I could start to see better and better. I now have 20/20 vision without glasses or contacts. My husband and I own Ultimate Fitness and working out has become a whole new experience for me. I no longer have to grab for my glasses so they don’t fall off when I am doing pushups! I can’t believe all the things that are easier for me to do at the gym. As a professional firefighter, I appreciate the benefits of Lasik. Prior to my surgery, my only option was to wear contacts to bed so I would be prepared for any call we’d get in the middle of the night. When I’d wake up to an alarm, my contacts were dry and it was difficult to see. Since having Lasik, it is no longer an issue, I can see clearly the moment I wake up.

There are so many delicate visual details that I now can see without the astigmatism. I can see the stars clearly, the edge of the moon shadow, flower petals, bird beaks, pine needles, dragonflies, freckles on noses, AND my recognition of detail keeps improving following the Lasik vision correction. I realized that after the first month, I was able to see my computer screen clearly without reading glasses. That is a bonus that I did not expect, being over 55.
It absolutely thrills me to immediately see out the window from my bed, both morning and night, without searching for glasses or fumbling with contacts. Finally, I am thankful that I will be able to see instantly in emergency situations.
